The last few months have been so incredible and inspiring. I am very excited about 2013. Monday and Tuesday is the time I usually set aside time to write down my New Year's resolutions. This year I am going to decide on what areas I want to focus on and improve. Of course the two areas are the most popular, health and finance.
New Year's resolutions are just another item on the to-do-list that lasts only a few weeks into the year. Then life happens and the excuses start taking over and the goal is no longer a priority. Before you know it the year is over and the same resolution gets recycled.
Not only am I creating a focus of improvement areas, but I am creating a vision or reasons why I MUST actively work on the areas in my life. This year my two biggest areas, of course, is health and finances. Why is this any different than years past? Because now I have a compelling reason to accomplish my goals. I want to do what I want, when I want, and how I want, with whom I want well
into my 90s. I want to be able to travel and not worry about my ability to walk
around Europe and see the sites or worry about taking medications with me. I want to live
in my home without being dependent on friends and family for my well being or
financially. I don't want to have the medical issues that have plagued family members (diabetics, heart disease, COPD, high blood pressure, etc.) or the aches and pains that come with being obese and inactive.
I am in the process of creating an action plan to stay on track and focused. Most of all I am putting action items on my calendar to make sure I have the time to exercise, increase my income, and decrease spending. (For more details on this plan go to www.healthylivingfrugally.com and start with the article New Lifestyle for 2013.)
Two ways to accomplish these two goals is to increase my income by increasing business for all my businesses and decrease spending. I have also signed up for 2 triathlons and will be signing up for a 30 mile bike race. At Sunrise Custom T-shirts, I will be selling inspirational t-shirts for the month of January and half the proceeds will be donated to the Crohn's and Colitis foundation. Give me a couple of days to get the design out and on the website.
So, what are your focus areas of improvement for 2013 and why? Please comment below.
